It was great to see those members who attended. The summer as it seems, was busy for all of us. Several members brought in new artwork to critique and several of us are catching our breath from our June and July whirlwind.

In June my painting "Flower Hill" was accepted in the NC Pastel Society Statewide Show. That pastel painting (see below) was used as the basis for a larger oil that is now at Mahler Fine Art in Raleigh.

The month of July has vanished. In addition to gathering pieces for the TAG show to be displayed at ChambersArt later in September, I am busy delivering new work to the Mahler Fine Art in Raleigh, SaxArt in Saxapahaw and at the Cary Gallery of Artists in Cary. My week of plein air painting at the Cashiers Plein Air Festival was the highlight of July. I painted along side of over 20 artists selected from across the country. As you can imagine, with that many artists painting all day every day, over 100 paintings were completed that week. The wet room, gala and quick draw were buzzing with new art being installed, admired and sold. Thanks to all of the patrons and volunteers who helped out the cause - The Village Green in Cashiers, NC!

One of the popular places to paint in Cashiers was Camp Merrie-Woode for girls. Merrie-Woode girls seem to have a blast forming life-long friendships over their summer at camp.
Attached is one my favorites from Merrie-Woode. "The Arc" is the cabin where on their day off, the counselors get to have a little R & R.

"The Arc" is available at Misty Mountain Gallery (owned by David Berger in Cashiers. NC)

Ok, so this week of August is ushering in cooler temps it is time to return to the easel en plein air. Have a great month, stop for a visit, call or check out my work at http://wendymusser.com
John Sweemer is painting a series of pieces with Cary themes. This is his newest painting "A Moment on the Greenway" capturing a sunlit stream in Pirates Cove in Cary, NC.

John is 90 years old, paints prolifically and walks four miles a day. That's why he looks 70 in this picture.Triangle Artist Guildhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05444912564163362333noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5620746252236861879.post-70332558080402367922012-05-13T19:16:00.000-04:002012-05-13T19:30:51.258-04:00E. E.
Tracy Williams currently lives in Cary. She spends as much time as
she can in her studio delving into her creative process. Her work has
been juried into too many shows to list and recognized by numerous art
organizations and publications, as well. She is active in many
organizations that promote the arts.

Her
favorite pastimes are studying and making art, worshiping in her church
and enjoying her relationships with people, especially her family;
her husband of fifty-two years, her children and grandchildren; and
her friends. You may visit her website, artbyetw.com, to see currently
Today was a "Glorious Day at Prairie Ridge" for more than one reason. I joined 3 painting buddies to paint en plein air at Prairie Ridge in Raleigh. If you have not been there, it is a great eco system learning station with meandering trails through the prairie grasses. Beyond the grasses and flowers you will find open fields, trees and a small pond.

Any way, the weather was perfect. We had a great time - sold my painting fresh off my easel and discovered a really good taco joint for lunch. I don't know how it gets better than that.

Have a good week!
Sunflowers cheer you up. They are bright and beautiful. Their yellow petals remind me of the sun's rays which give us light and warmth which in turn helps our trees, plants, flowers and gardens to grow. The center of the Sunflower also provides food for birds, animals and humans. Sunflowers remind me of God's love for us. That he provides for all our needs. For all He has given us and continues to do so. Whenever I paint one, I am transported into a world of beauty and wonder. I am renewed.

BIRTH

This morning I painted a prayer
First I was the moon
halved and waiting
still shining but searching
It started silver it bled to gold
edges were lost
I kneel and kiss the canvas
My face is wet in gratitude
I must bleed onto the background

I am that angel who planted you
in your mother
Mary Of God’s womb

I am agony burst into laughter

The silent second before the scream

Split open the body!
Give life!

There is a tribal rhythm of ancient hearts
that none may ignore
when they pound out your name
to enter earthly realms
for heavenly pleasures
in marriage of the missing
half of your soul

Stilled blood settles here
pulse refuses to pump
without your heart bursting over mine
Placental Embryo
Birthing requires such
concentration
and none
such decision
and none

such blood
such blood
a river sacrificed

words are made for mortals
while angels rely on miracles

Today is a miracle
today a moment ago
you were born

This morning I painted a prayer
souls calling
for
celebration!
I have actually just moved to a new home and am still in the process of setting up my studio. So to get me started painting again, I am pulling out a painting that still needs work. And I have pulled out a favorite finished painting.

The finished pastel painting is titled "Trickling Down to the Pond". It is a small piece that I painted from my photos taken during the Cashiers Plein Air event earlier this summer. I entered the studio piece in a landscape show hosted by the Cary Gallery of Artists and juried by Susan Sarback. Susan is an internationally known artists and is founder of The School of Light and Color. I was fortunate enough to not only get in the show; but, also received First Place for "Trickling Down to the Pond". I hope you enjoy the piece and the greens of that summer day warm you on this chilly autumn day.
Stay warm!
