It is a bit nippy so let's stay in the studio today. I have actually just moved to a new home and am still in the process of setting up my studio. So to get me started painting again, I am pulling out a painting that still needs work. And I have pulled out a favorite finished painting.
The finished pastel painting is titled "Trickling Down to the Pond". It is a small piece that I painted from my photos taken during the Cashiers Plein Air event earlier this summer. I entered the studio piece in a landscape show hosted by the Cary Gallery of Artists and juried by Susan Sarback. Susan is an internationally known artists and is founder of The School of Light and Color. I was fortunate enough to not only get in the show; but, also received First Place for "Trickling Down to the Pond". I hope you enjoy the piece and the greens of that summer day warm you on this chilly autumn day.
Stay warm!

John Sweemer, "Brushes Old and New" Watercolor
"This is my fourth brush painting. Old, favorite brushes are like old-time friends. You know how they behave and what they can do. One of them (4th. from the right) had been my friend for over 25 years. It has synthetic hair and has a nice “snap” to it. I use it for large skies and water areas in my marine paintings."
